50th Wedding Anniversary Paintings- A very special journey

I have had the good fortune of being commissioned to create many 50th Anniversary Wedding Paintings. I am in awe of the stories that my clients tell, each different and each amazing in their own way. 50 years is a LONG time and  it is worth celebrating. Most of these paintings are a surprise gift commissioned by either one of the spouses or by the children. The process is a long one. I listen carefully to the stories the client shares with me. The goal is to tap into the most symbolic and important moments of their journey together. Then come a series of rough sketches, then more finished sketches, then proofs, then finding the right color palette and then finally creating the finished painting, with the goal of making it look not too busy, but harmonious. This process is often a secret to the spouse and so far, the secret has not been leaked. This has not been easy, there have been clandestine meetings, emails written in code, and fees paid in cash as to not raise any suspicion by the spouse.  For all of these paintings below, the big “reveal”  at a celebratory party was a great success. The recipient of the gift was completely surprised and amazed by the stories and details in the paintings. Although each painting is a lot of work and careful planning for me, I have absolutely loved being part of the process and creating art that is so incredibly personal and meaningful to the client.
